Hm that's odd. As I said, it's working fine for my CentOS box, although I haven't done much after installing the DB instance. Have you double-checked the asmlib version against the kernel installed?

Note that you might be running one version of the kernel, but have another version installed, ready to take over upon reboot. This bit me the first time, but then again I'm kind of silly.
