Sounds like a good idea to me too, but if you do go with this plan, be especially wary of using datapump to move the metadata for your TTS - that is one of the specific areas where I saw much worse performance with DP compared to exp/imp (HOURS vs. minutes!) - be sure to test though - YMMV.
