With all due respect, Steve replies to people who personally attack (of which you've had a few!), but I don't think he qualifies as a moderator in "name only" - Steve allows the conversation to proceed and tags people who don't play nice. However, I take offense to this comment. I'm one of the people who replied to your comment, and I've watched the responses that followed, and the vast majority of responses were constructive, detailed, and respectful. A few responses were arguably dismissive and inappropriate, but most were more discussive than anything else. People responded wanting to know how you did what you did, what your techniques were, etc.

The biggest response I've seen from you has been, "Oh, like I told you, I ran a sql script, but my intuition solved the problem". This might be self-evident to you, but to us, we love the *process*. We love hearing that you drank down wait events until you could drink no more - we love hearing that you set the trace level up to 101 (spinal tap reference), and saw that the levees spilled over, etc. What's missing from your story is what you did - you ran a sql script, you said that, but other than that, you simply said that your employer, Cingular Wireless, had a terrible issue with data dictionary corruption, which you fixed, thereby saving them $30m...

However, *how* you fixed it is oracle confidential

*Why* you knew it needed to be fixed came to you in a dream

and *how* you feel it's okay to be telling stories about a previous employer continues to escape me.

I'm not even in the top 50% of DBAs on this forum, and I hang out, cause I think it's valuable for me - I don't understand what you have to complain about. You started an online conversation and it didn't play out the way you expected?

Thanks,
Matt

Steve, who's a moderator in name only, apologized for the flames. Jared
Still used to lead this group by example. If I were boss (and I've been in
that position) of the clueless and the self-promoting who can't find
anything else to do but flame, I'd both the clueless and the self-promoting
flamers.

Steve put me on vacation hold. I will visit this GMail account only every 6
months to keep the account active. Only when someone bans the flamers will
I ever return to reading and contributing to this group. This is not the
group it used to be. With all due respect to Ora-600.com, shove it where
the sun doesn't shine.

Good bye and enjoy flaming and making asses out of each other.
