Yes, "backup database plus archivelog delete all input" for me - for the reasons you already mentioned, plus it's critical to keep the required logs with the datafiles in the same backup if you are taking monthly and/or yearly backups with longer retentions because you don't want to try and restore a yearly backup 2 years down the road only to find that your logs were backed up in a separate backup set and expired after only 35 days!
