I received a suggestion off the list and it worked well. The solution is

# xhost +localhost

$ DISPLAY=":0" ; export DISPLAY ; /usr/X11R6/bin/xclock and Voila!!!!. This time i did not use ignoresysprereqs. The installer came up properly.

One suggestion I didn't see was to use vncserver.

Simple to use, and you can then just use vncviewer from your desktop.

        eg:

	login as oracle

# set vnc password
vncpasswd
# run vncserver on port 10
vncserver :10 Just download RealVNC to your desktop, connect to <your server>:10 and supply the password. -- Jared Still Certifiable Oracle DBA and Part Time Perl Evangelist
