Okay i agree with ur point..

am little confused with below point:

  ###########################################################################
The Oracle8i DBWR process corrects this problem. Oracle8i's DBWR continuously writes without waiting for the previously issued calls to complete. As a result, slow writes no longer impact DBWR. This new feature allows DBWR to be inherently asynchronous in nature, regardless of the whether the OS supports asynchronous I/O or not. You configure multiple database writers by setting the parameter DB_WRITER_PROCESSES.
This feature was available in Oracle8.0.4 and allows true multiple database writers. There is no master-slave relationship as in Version 7.

You have already being told. You gain nothing if the operating system does not support Asycnhronous I/O

    Read Note:139272.1

and you can see as LSC already pointed out

on HP-UX,
aio is *only* possible on a raw device. Put in another way, aio *cannot* be used on a filesystem.

Quite clear

the raw files system is for solaris server.

  We are using normal Filesystem.
Already Async io is set in couple of other HP-UX servers........

on what basis can we change disk_asynch_io = FALSE to disk_asynch_io = TRUE (PLease see below information for clarity of my requirement)

Any docs pertaining to disk_asynch_io = TRUE and its Advantages

  Thanks,

You need to setup raw devices to use AIO in HP-UX. No chance if you are using vxfs.

Thanks

I have doubts whether i can set the below on.... please suggest advantages and disadvantages of below setting.......on HP-UX disk_asynch_io = TRUE
tape_asynch_io = TRUE

  am unclear mainly about disk_asynch_io,db_writer_processes,DBWR_IO_SLAVES

  Any help would be appreciated.
