Yes, I knew that, but I am obliged to only use a unix platform. Plus I always hated that extra layer, seems overly complicated.

you can do ORACLE [UNIX] <-> LISTENER + TG [WIN] <-> SQL SERVER [guess what :)]

You are not obligated to run TG agent on the same platform as your database.
