Mark,

Thank you for replying to my questions. I did not fill my disk. Permissions are not the issue either since I can continue writing archivelogs and normal processing after issuing the "alter database commit..." command fails. I'm inclined to believe this is an issue with SE not being able to use the log_archive_dest_n parameters rather than an actual problem with the archivelogs.
