There is a free unix os simulator CYGWIN which he can install and it opens up a DOS like window.

Comes in handy when you want to use some unix features like grep.

Hi Neil,

on my Unix server, the 9i oracle binary file (named oracle) contains the string "Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release %d.%d.%d.%d.%d - 64bit Production" whereas the standard has "Oracle9i Release %d.%d.%d.%d.%d - 64bit Production". I don't suppose you have grep on your Windows server?

Cheers,
Norman.
