I varied my windows - some just during peak hours, some for 24 hours - trying to get a good feel for the ups & downs of the system and then try to pick the values that best represent the typical workload during a typical business day. It will be different for every system depending on their business cycles.

I was wondering how much time do you gather system statistics, a couple of hours per day? Peak time perhaps?
