Tarik,

Some time backup, we have upgraded one of our busiest OLTP database (410 transaction per second) from 9i to 10gR2 on AIX 5.3.

We don't see any strange behaviour in PGA of after upgrade. However, our 9i databases with 9.2.0.5 patch set.
