Hi,

I have used a product called statspacke viewer and it has become a valuable addition to my performance tuning arsenal. However, there seems to be some issues with the legitimacy of some of its vendors.

It looks like the initially owner was Alexey B. Danchenkov who was interviewed by Oracle on peer to peer ( http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/04-mar/o24peer.html ). In this interview, he mentions his creation of the tool and points people to his web site on http://www.statsviewer.narod.ru/ which I saw posted on this free list several times. Up to here, it is easy and simple.

As I googled this product, I came across Burlson Consulting/Rampant press who claims to have acquired this tool and it now owns its exclusive rights. It even warns DBA of some 'illegitimate and foreign' web sites that still offer it for sale. See here http://www.dba-oracle.com/oracle_news/2005_1_11_statspack_viewer_software.htm

I have emailed the person who claims to provide support for SPViewer at alexdabr_at_yahoo.com. In all times, he was responsive and pretty technical.

So, what is the scoop here? Who is the legitimate owner of this product?
