Hello Malden,

We keep a (multiplexed) copy of the controlfile in the disk group used for FRA, it's a good practice anyway and as a side effect it keeps the FRA diskgroup always mounted.

Thanks, Fairlie, I believe that you're right. Hmmm, whenever the last file on the disk group is closed, Oracle dismounts the diskgroup? Am I the only one who sees a potential performance problem in this behavior? I hope that my newly created standby will be able to keep up with the demand.
