Agreed. I have done just that in a 10g environment (10.1 to 10.2) on Windows and I think doing it on Solaris could only be better. But note I am somewhat biased towards Unix (full disclosure). Metalink Note 62290.1 "Changing between 32-bit and 64-bit Word Sizes" has some pretty good info on it.

Yup, but check the ora-600 bug when going from 32bit 8.x to 64bit 10.2.0.3.
