Can't kill it.  

Contractors locally were being hired for $100/hr to support old Cobol legacy systems as people retire.  

It's the new hot market.

We are actively writing new programs on the mainframe using COBOL and IMS.   We even have a couple of Websphere java applications that fetch IMS data via the Web.  

COBOL will probably outlive all of us.
