Hello Daniel,

I found the hard way that there is a bit of misinformation in note 316889.1 It specifies that you change the compatible parameter to 10g prior to running the upgrade script. This will cause the upgrade to fail and by migrating the control files to 10g you must restore your 9i database before doing the upgrade again.

So, if anybody is upgrading manually a 9i database to 10g. Change the compatible parameter AFTER your migration is complete. Other than that, following this document will get you there.

Thanks to all that help.

If you are doing a manual upgrade (i.e. you will run catupgrd.sql) check out Metalink Note 316889.1 (Complete checklist for manual upgrades to 10gR2).

I found this note and the Oracle documentation very useful.

Daniel
