check out what is available at http://www.appsdba.com/scripts.htm

I've recently implemented the dbora and dbcontrol scripts, and they work extremely well. This was on linux, but similar enough at the CLI level to Solaris.

Andy Rivenes has extended Oratab ( in a way that will not break Oracle scripts)
to allow starting the correct listener, Oracle Names, etc. and in the correct order.
