No did not know about skip tablespace. I'm okay with replicating the system tablespace and these datafiles.

RMAN questions,

Hopefully it's not to dumb.

  1. Can RMAN do a full backup of just certain datafiles and lay them out on another system?
  2. If so, can you then do incrementals on those datafiles?
  3. Lastly if one and two are possible - what if you modify the destination database say update a row that lives in the datafile you are doing increments on, will applying the RMAN incremental datafile file fail?
