POST TITLE: Oracle Production DBA

Location

Edinburgh, Scotland, U.K.

OVERVIEW Cognia EU Ltd is seeking an Oracle production database administrator to provide on-call support and ensure the availability, performance, security and recoverability of enterprise database systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
. Design and configure enterprise database architectures according to
business requirements.

. Devise and measure business-relevant SLAs on database service delivery.

. Provide daily monitoring and resolution of systems for faults,
availability & performance issues and security infringements.

. Install and patch Oracle installations and manage software inventory,
licence compliance and support contracts.

. Coordinate with system administrators on hardware provisioning, monitoring
and tuning.

. Coordinate with development staff on deployment and configuration
management of in-house software.

. Provide on-call support and resolution of database faults and outages.

QUALIFICATIONS
. Experienced production Oracle database administrator. Excellent knowledge
of 9i and 10g releases (OCP preferred).

. Track record of designing and implementing effective database systems.

. Key technical skills to include: RMAN, RAC, Standby Server / Data Guard,
Enterprise Manager (or similar monitoring tool), Unix / Linux, Storage Hardware, Web Services.

. Ability to priortise and deal with customer support calls efficiently
under pressure.

. Experience in creating and documenting procedures.

. Competence in change / release management.

. Highly motivated with good interpersonal skills.
