I discovered dataguard gets confused by VCS

<Bug:4404952> : DG BROKER DOES NOT SUPPORT COLD-FAILOVER CLUSTERS

I was told my Oracle support that giving dataguard a vip makes it think that you're running RAC and that there is a request out to fix the problems. I spent well over a week wrestling with local_listener, sid parameter, etc because of this. We'll either yank VCS or the broker to fix this. Hope this helps.

 Dave

I'm curious if anyone has had any problems with:

How do we speed up the RFS process or find out what it's doing. Sometimes we  think ODG is broken but if we wait 5 -10 minutes after restarting the primary  and standby we'll see logs being applied to the standby again.

Also log_archive_dest_2 is getting nulled out on switchovers. When we switch  back the value is null so we're losing info in the spfile.

There are SID specific parameters in the spfile that override our settings.  What's with that and how do we control them?

standby_archive_dest. Some places we see we need it some say we don't. In the  manual it says we do. Are there any problems or reasons not to set it to the  same as log_archive_dest_1?

        Thx, Dave
