Hi Everyone,

I'm in the process of implementing a new 10g database and deciding whether or not we want to license the diagnostics & tuning packs. I'm curious how useful you all have found them since I'm fairly new to 10g. I already know about the fact that we aren't supposed to query certain views (e.g. v$active_session_history) and run certain procedures if these packs aren't licensed, but I just don't know if I really need these views & procedures or not. I've gotten along fine without them up to now so that leads me to believe I don't really need them. At the same time, they seem like they could be very helpful in certain situations and might help me resolve some problems faster.

Have those of you running on 10g for a while found the diagnostics pack to be useful? Worth the money?

What about the tuning pack? Do the SQL tuning & SQL profile features work well?

Is anyone running the old statspack (instead of AWR) with 10g? Any issues there?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!
Brandon
