Thanks Mladen, but I think you answered your own question - it is important in times of recovery. Also, since we will have the database flashback log on this same flash recovery area filesystem with the archive logs and datafile copies, it is important to have good performance to the flashback log or else we can experience waits similar to waits on redo logs. So, my main goal is to optimize for the entire flash recovery area, not just the archive logs.
