My point was just that the days when Oracle cheerfully sat on top of an OS, completely relying on the OS for every piece of functionality outside of running an ACID-compliant database storage engine, are long gone.

This list does not make Oracle an OS. Try implementing any of that stuff without an OS underneath and the point will be crystal clear..
