Well, first off, unless you're still on Oracle 8.0.x, you're using the
wrong script. See Doc ID 105813.1 for the right one.
Second, Steve Adams makes a couple of points about why it is "only marginally valid" here: http://www.ixora.com.au/q+a/pool.htm#24_10_1999 <http://www.ixora.com.au/q+a/pool.htm#24_10_1999> though it looks like this script has corrected at least one of the problems (duplication of cursors in V$DB_OBJECT_CACHE and V$SQLAREA.
Hope that helps,
-Mark

Subject: Shared pool utilization more than allocation
Runining the SCRIPT:ESTIMATE SHARED POOL UTILIZATION from Note:105004.1 of metalink shows Shared pool utilization more than allocation and shows free memory as 31.5Mb as shown below . Why this discrepancy? Can somebody explain please?
Object mem: 466190256 bytes
Cursors: 113500 bytes
Free memory: 33082336 bytes (31.55MB)
Shared pool utilization (total): 606194883 bytes (578.11MB)
Shared pool allocation (actual): 536870912bytes (512MB)
Percentage Utilized: 113%
Thanks
