9i or 10g, which one to upgrade to?

I'm planning an upgrade from 8.1.7 to either 9i or 10g (on AIX5L) and looking for any recommendations. I'm familiar with the new features in 10g, but I don't have any experience working with it in a production environment. I feel a little safer now that the 10gR2 is out but it still seems to be pretty close to the bleeding edge. I'm curious what kind of performance and reliability you all have experienced on 10gR2 compared to 9iR2? I know it will vary depending on your hardware, application, and a million other things but I'm just looking for general experiences, sentiments, and pros & cons (other than the well-documented new features) between 9i and 10g. I've seen some negative comments here about Grid Control, but what about the individual Database Control product - any major problems with it?

Thanks,
Brandon
