Alert log and trace file monitor for Winders?

Hey all,

I'm upgrading some Oracle DBs from 8i to 9iR2 and as luck would have it, they're on (or will be) on Winders Server 2K3. So my custom POSIX script for monitoring the alert log and trace files won't work. :(

There's CygWin, but as I have zero control over this server (and don't want any), I'm hesitant to attempt it. I've installed CygWin dozens of times on desktops, but I really don't want to try and tackle a full-blown WinServer in a Corporate lockdown environment, either politically or technically.

I've been scouring the Freelist archives as well as orafaq (and Google), and the only thing I can find that comes close is Ron Reidy's Perl script. Unfortunately, the almost-a-Perl that comes installed with Oracle-Apache doesn't have DBI/DBD-Oracle, so that option's out for the same reason as CygWin.

So, is there by chance a non-DBI log monitor program already written that will work with Oracle's installed Perl? I could hack one up in a day or two, but just didn't want to reinvent the square wheel if I didn't have to. There's was none to be found even on jaredstill.com, either (which is COMPLETELY different from jstill.com). ;)

Anyone?

TIA,
Rich
