not at all. we have clients installed on the local intranet from where we are trying to connect even on the server itself where the database is residing, from there we cant connect to SQL using user/pass_at_connectstringbut after setting oracle sid using SET ORACLE_SID=SID and then sqlplus
user/pass we are able to connect but not using the connect string.  Dont know why ???????????
