Good question,

but is it not all related to the architecture you need for your main application?

Subject: Where is todays server middle ground

On the high end, I consider the Sunfire and the Super Dome. On the low end, we have the cheap Linux/Windows 2-4 cpu derivatives.

Where do you consider todays best middle ground in terms of a server/SAN?
Lets set the price point at such a servcer under a million $.

What vendor and model is leading that pack? Cheers
David
