Hi guys!

            Got a client who's using a Cognos Planning suite on Intel servers.

When he was running the "contributor" process a week ago last Friday more often then not he was getting SQL*Loader-704 error

>From ML it seems to be Oracle limitation on how long SQL Loader commands
can be. OS recommendation is to reduce the length of your filenames.

He said he should be running with same parms all the time.

The loader files are dynamically generated and deleted and he didn't have anything to see what was in the command buffer.

I told him to go back to Cognos as they must have run across this before.

He said he wasn't getting any feedback from them but then he remembered last year he had to

Change his sqlnet.ora from

SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS) TO

SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE)   That fixed his 704 errors but after a couple of days he was getting other errors.

This time he said he got a great support person who had him run some undocumented "cleansing" process which fixed all the new problems.

I asked if he could go back to his original sqlnet.ora to see if that was also fixed and he said he will as soon as he catches up on his backlog.

            Anybody have a clue to what was going on here?

            Oh, yes, a cube mate of his overheard the conversation and said he had to do the same thing at one of their remote sites for a different app.

            Thanks

            Larry
