I believe by default now (WinXP), Telnet is disabled unless it is specifically turned on. In a Windows XP environment, go to Start, Programs, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. From there, go down to Telnet and change the startup mode to either Manual or Automatic, click Apply, then start the service. Next, go to Start, Programs, Control Panel, Network Connections, and then change your Windows Firewall settings to allow telnet connections. I just tried it and worked for me. Now to go back and turn it all off. ------------------------------------------------------------ Bill Ferguson U.S. Geological Survey - Minerals Information Team PO Box 25046, MS-750 Denver, Colorado 80225 Voice (303)236-8747 ext. 321 Fax (303)236-4208 > -----Original Message----- > From: oracle-l-bounce@freelists.org > [mailto:oracle-l-bounce@freelists.org] On Behalf Of > Kip.Bryant@Vishay.com > Sent: Friday, October 07, 2005 10:23 AM > To: oracle-l@freelists.org > Subject: RE: *nix vs MS > > Are you refering to "Remote Desktop Connection" that became > available...not sure when.
