Connecting to console port

Hi,
I have been noticing time to time following issue with one of our instance.During that message looks like instnace got stuck kind of .

ORACLE Instance mpxt05 - Can not allocate log, archival required Wed Oct 4 03:59:05 2005
ARCH: Connecting to console port...
Thread 1 cannot allocate new log, sequence 15739

At archival destination I noticed lots of free spaces.

What could be problem ?
Any suggestions are welcome.
Does any one have similar situation ? Please also suggest fix method.
