Jeff,

Is the /3GB switch actually working with 8.1.7.x in your environment? AFAIK, support for "large" memory on win32 was broken with the 8.1.7.3.0patchset and was not fixed in any of the 8.1.7.4.x patchsets.
It has always worked in the 9.2.x and 10.1.x releases for me.

Is there any chance that you can upgrade to 9.2 or 10.1 prior to making these changes?

Check out the orastack utility for reducing the per process memory footprint.

Paul

ps - I don't cross-post.
