Thanks a lot! Really some interesting information there, while I fear we really need something better founded... at least his assessment of IBM's "independent" assessment seems less biased than IBM's, but I'd still like some harder data.

Oh, that was it... people using HTML formatting to differentiate their answers, and this does not show corretly to lotsa clients -- for example, I'm (unfortunately) sitting behind Lotus Notes.

This is not a fair assessment. IBM do have pre-SQL software they still support or even develop, and DB2 for the OS/390 is a different product -- but it is largerly compatible with DB2/UDB *and* is on a platform long abandoned by Oracle.

Also, inside a product I gather the different editions of DB2 are *more* uniform than Oracle's, meaning you don't need to shell out more just to use that one feature you really need.

That said, I do regret that DB2 ain't available on more platforms.

This is an indictment of the paper in question, not an evaluation of DB2.

This is a nice piece of information, but it is quite generic and outdated. Would love some up-to-date information on this.

Here I've been seeing more and more functionality as PL/SQL stored procedures.

Conceded. And more easily available demo and development copies too.
