        Oracle in particular, and SQL in general, is different. Oracle ain't fixing anytime soon some pretty fundamental non-compliant items, like '' IS NULL or DATE. And this makes a huge difference in portability.

        Not in the same breath. The first three were given as bad examples. Sorry for not making it clear.

        No, only DB2 (specially) and PostgreSQL.

        I have my gripes against them also. Copy control in DB2, bad defaults in PostgreSQL. But there is a lot to like also.

        Both DB2 and PostgreSQL can stand up.

        I think that paints too broad a picture.

        Right now I think DB2 has as much pluses as Oracle, and PostgreSQL is a lot leaner, more elegant. Watch out, Ellison, and comply...
