And a number of these "investment firms" are in the habit of buying companies only to sell off parts thereof to a great profit. Have two friends who went through that, it can come very suddenly. One saw his division sold off to another firm that didn't need his skills. The other was combined into parts of another company similarly acquired and they got spun off. He kept his job. I'd take the Boy Scouts attitude on this one & be prepared. I assume you work for Kerr Mcgee, so you should do some research on their previous purchases in the Chemical industry and how they are currently trying to spin the total chemical unit off as it's own company.
