  What we did was to temporarily add a new drive (D).   Then we built a database on that drive ( with the same sid) , removed the extra drive and plugged in the new mount point.   You will need to copy the password file from the temporary server to the new server, or recreate it.

  Work like a charm.

     is there something to reconfigure (Oracle software or Oracle instance) in addition to the host name entries in tnsnames.ora/listener.ora?
