Use a new ORACLE_HOME. The install will create a new ORACLE_HOME for you anyway and it's best to able to apply any necessary patches in isolation to other apps on that box.

The 11.5.9 /11.5.10 decision is up to you. I'd opt for 11.5.10; its first set of consolidated patches is available now. If you install 11.5.9 you may find that you've as near as dammit upgraded most of the modules to 11.5.10 by the time you get them to work. =)

The LPAR option sounds good and could be useful but I wouldn't want to comment as I haven't used them.

Cheers,
Mike

Subject: Oracle Financials Question

All,

We are just starting a project using Oracle Financials (General Ledger & Chart of Accounts). Is it appropriate to install this software on the same machine as our other Oracle Database Server? Should I create a separate Oracle Home? We are on an IBM AIX box - should I suggest a separate LPAR on this machine (basically acts like a separate machine)?

We have version 11.5.9 in house. Should we start with the latest patch set (it looks like 11.5.10 is available)?

Thanks.

Tom
