I worked with a fellow who kept an entire database plus Oracle home (7.3.4) on a 10G external drive on his laptop.

Go to a client site, attach the drive to the client's Windows server, copy contents to clients root, run script to create listener and database services, start services and, voila, instant database.

Not an ideal way to do it but, if your database is small enough, you could put it on a DVD instead of an external drive.
