Help: Redhat AS 2.1, Oracle 9i (9.2.0.4) and oms

In an effort to upgrade an oracle database server I have run into a problem that I need some assistance with. I have a server running RedHat Linux AS 2.1 which has Oracle 9.2.0.4 running which I will be taking to 9.2.0.6 - but before I do I need to perform an export of the data. I experienced the problem with dbsnmp and patched it with OPatch so that it no longer segfaults. I rediscovered nodes in the oms (after starting the agent obviously) and was able to create jobs to export and backup the database but they are staying in submitted mode and no files are written. I am still looking on metalink for any similar but I thought if someone had already experienced this problem they might shed some light....
