Which is the storage system that you are using ? Only certain storage systems are "certified". Start with
http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/availability/htdocs/oscp.html and http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/availability/htdocs/vendors.html

For each vendor, there are links to documents on how to take Hot Backups.
