But if there is a gap, and it sure looks like you have demonstrated it, then I'd much rather be running on an optimizer that will (at least eventually) likely have this sort of thing fixed, even if it isn't currently fixed. Part of the search for a smarter database is the (never ending IME) search for smarter ways to use the database I actually do have.
