"8i" for a bug?
can you be a bit more specific like 8.1.5.0 or 8.1.7.4?

upgrade or patch.
got a test environment (meaning, another server)? 0. apply OS fixes. test.
1. apply latest 8.1.7.x major patchset. test. apply any one off patchsets that OWS recommends.
2. upgrade to 9.2.0.6. cross fingers. test. 3. upgrade to 10.1.0.3. cross fingers and tap heels together 3 times. test.
