Fwiw, look at ML Note 179133.1. I would suggest testing both using the WE8MSWIN1252 characterset as it is a superset of P1 and in any case, the SQL*Net layer will translate this back and forth between the UTF8 based databases. P1 seems to be a wrong choice...
