One interesting note is that Oracle has seminar series called "Oracle9i Database: Seminar Series for Oracle Server" that will teach to dump and interpret block dumps. You can read more http://education.oracle.co.uk/html/oracle/1001/73/99/d16665gc10.htm

Too bad that Oracle doesn't provide course documentation/additional documentation regarding to this topic.
