Is this on a Pentiium 4 processor?
There was a bug with 8i that it would not function properly on P4's unless you put in a 'fix'.....at least the assistant's would crater

No, but it doesn't really matter. V7 isn't supported either, but it's still around,
and 8i will be desupported quite soon.

Yes, just got hold of one.

I didn't want to waste my time if someone could tell me it flat out didn't work.

It appears that the java version with 8i does not work. None of the assistants
will work. I don't really care about that, so I will build a database and=20
see what happens.
