Hi,

Sorry if this is drifting slightly OT to the oracle list, but here is a topic related question.

Has anyone used 'greylisting' with success? 'Greylisting' is supposed to catch spam that might not be initially recognized by 'spamcop', 'dcc', etc.

The 'greylisting' concept as I understand it: all incoming email are supposed to fail 1st time using some low-level mail protocol, you delay the retransittal request for a 'set' period (maybe 1 hour), and then see if the either the email is retransmitted or the originator has been added to the spam list. The delay is supposed to also catch the new spam sites, but I've not heard if it works as 'advertised'.

Regards,

Mike Thomas
