This reminds me of a former mgr that ordered only part of the upgrades I recommended to improve response time on a system.

I recommended another 512M of RAM and 2 more CPU's.

This was a few years ago when 1 Gig was quite a bit of RAM. The CPU's be ordered only in pairs.

He ordered the CPU's. Performance did not improve.

He then ordered the memory. Performance improved to the point we could maintain our SLA. :)
