The answer is simple:

1) Gain access to Metalink.
2) Upgrade to 9.2 because 8i is no longer supported.
3) Before that upgrade to White Box or ES 3.0 proper. An interesting

   thing is that Oracle*Installer 10g recognizes FC3 as supported    version. Oracle support personnel, unfortunately, does not. Metalink is the Word. In the beginning there was Word. And the Word was Larry. And Larry said: let there be Metalink. And there was Metalink, sometimes faster, sometimes stinking slow, but there it was. You cannot do anything about patches, upgrades and research without access to Metalink. Sorry.
