You are hitting the "feature" number 3143531. See Metalink note:3143531.8. According to that note, the solution is simple: install the patchset 9.2.0.6 which will, according to the tech. support, be available in "late October, early November". Another Oracle person who I occasionally exchange emails with shrewdly observed that they didn't specify the year. Few weeks ago, I was blowing steam when I was told that my problem at the time will ultimately be fixed in 9.2.0.6. and the =20 patchset was nowhere in sight.
Now, it is my greatest honor to pass the torch: it's your turn to swear and curse. Be a good cursor. Be ref cursor, if possible.
