Definitely off topic, but because Instant Messenger is so popular, I = thought I'd forward a message IO received today from a coworker

"Today, I got a popup telling me that the ViewPoint IE Toolbar had been = successfully installed on my computer. Since I never use IE and I = wasn't using IE at the time, this surprised me. Googling turned up the = fact that the ViewPoint IE Toolbar is spyware.

How did it get on my machine?

After a recent "Critical Security Update" to AIM two weeks ago, AIM = installed ViewPoint Media Player (which I never asked for). ViewPoint = Media Player today surreptitiously installed the ViewPoint IE toolbar.

AIM has a history of security and privacy problems. This was the last = straw. If you want to IM me, you can use the Exchange IM client from = the XWEB. I highly recommend you uninstall AIM as well. If you must = communicate with AIM users, use a 3rd party client like GAIM or Trillian = instead."
